The Give Hope Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit supporting Northern Nevada families who are caring for children with serious medical needs. Founded by Amanda Flangas in 2005, Give Hope raises funds through three annual signature events including the “Hacks for Hope” Golf Tournament, The Festival of Hope Auction Gala, and the Hearts for Hope Poker Tournament. Operated entirely by volunteers, all funds are distributed locally to directly help families in need.
For more than two decades, The Give Hope Foundation has stood beside Nevada families and our guiding promise remains simple but powerful: caring for families so they can care for their child.
We Focus on the Child, Not the Diagnosis
Most local and national foundations assisting children with illnesses are limited to a single illness. At the Give Hope Foundation, we are not limited in this area.
At Give Hope, we focus on the child—not the diagnosis. Every child is more than a medical condition or label; they are individuals with unique strengths, personalities, and dreams. We meet families where they are, offering compassionate support that honors the whole child and helps relieve the burdens that come with complex medical needs—so families can focus on what matters most: loving, caring for, and supporting their child.
Over Two Decades and Still Going Strong
In early 2001, founding member Amanda Flangas was invited to help launch a fundraising golf tournament in Reno benefiting a nationally recognized children’s medical organization. While deeply inspired by the impact of that work, Amanda felt a strong calling to focus her efforts closer to home.
She recognized that families right here in Northern Nevada were facing similar challenges—caring for children with chronic and life-altering medical conditions while navigating significant financial strain. From that vision, Give Hope was born: a community-driven effort dedicated to supporting local families during some of their most difficult times.
In 2005, the Give Hope board made the pivotal decision to formally establish the organization as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, strengthening its ability to serve Northern Nevada families with transparency and long-term sustainability (EIN: 20-2472387). Today, Give Hope continues to raise critical funds through its three signature events—the Give Hope Giving Gala, Hearts for Hope Charity Poker Tournament, and Hacks for Hope Golf Tournament—each bringing the community together to support local families facing life-altering medical challenges.
